sITE OVERVIEW

Thompson Longhorn was engaged to design, manufacture, and install a large 439 yard cattle and 482 yard sheep exchange facility. Existing selling facilities were becoming outdated and outgrown. The new facility is referred to as TRLX which is an acronym for Tamworth Regional Livestock Exchange.

Cattle yards

SCOPE:

  • 2D and 3D design, quantity survey and estimating

  • Build a dedicated test facility to trial auctioneer’s walkways and sale pen design

  • Yards to integrate with overhead roof structure

  • Safe public buying and agent selling access

  • Loading and unloading of trailers, single deck and double deck trucks as well as quick unloading dump ramps

  • Post sale weighing operation

  • Weigh bulk mobs of cattle via a weighbridge and singularly via a dedicated crush

  • Equipment able to be controlled from hand remotes and semi automate with saleyards software, reducing excessive staff & supporting OH&S standards

  • Support horse-rider workflow & gate operation

  • Equipment conforms to NLIS scanning equipment requirements

  • Address animal welfare issues such as drinking water availability and low stress animal handling equipment

  • Capable of accommodating and maintaining soft fill flooring

  • Provide dust suppression

  • Holding capabilities with feed bunkers and water



sHEEP YARDS

SCOPE:

  • 2D and 3D design, quantity survey, and cost estimating

  • Build a dedicated test facility to trial sale pen design

  • Yards to integrate with covered buyers walkways

  • Dedicated agent selling walkways

  • Provide drinking water to each selling and holding pen

  • Underground wastewater drainage system for large troughs

  • Three drafting stations to sort sheep

  • Concrete receival area with wash down capabilities for hygiene requirements

  • Four dual purpose ramps for loading & unloading of both large trailers and small utes
